Solo in the Snow, September 29, 2006 By For the past 8 years...this is my go-to tent for solo/winter trips. I don't think there's a better 2-person/4-season tent for the money! This tent (like my Timberlines) is free-standing which means I can pitch the tent and then move it around until I find just the right spot before staking the guylines and vestibules. I cannot say enough about the features. Double vestibules for gear, lots of extra vents that can zipped closed or left open depending on weather conditions and lots of accessory pockets to keep small items off the floor. The tent is rated for 2 people but you won't have room for much gear other than bedrolls. I use it most for solo trips and then the pack and the dog both fit, too! When I need more space...I use my K-2XT (a 3-person winter camping palace)...see my review for more on that one!

Alpenlite 2XT - Tent (sleeps 2) (Sports) the ventalation system is good but it gets hot in the summer when the sun hits the tent! the construction is extremly sturdy I cant wait until the snow starts fallin so I can take it out to the backcountry!!! the 6 pole system is a dream, but get a foot print cuz the bottom is kind of thin without!! best purchase I have made in a while!!

So far so good, March 27, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Eureka! Alpenlite 2XT - Tent (sleeps 2) (Sports) I received this tent on the third Friday in March. I immediately pitched it in the backyard for a little pre-backpacking weekend test run (my three and four year old boys love this!) Please note, the included instructions were very confusing. I ended up crumpling them and winging it. Without the instructions, the setup is a snap. All poles and parts are intuitively shaped and appear to be of very high quality. Start to finish in five minutes. Even quicker once you get the hang of it (staking one corner makes things much easier in the wind!)
Living in the mountains of Western North Carolina, we still see chilly overnight temperatures this time of year. Friday night was no exception. The temp hovered around freezing from midnight till dawn. With the two top vents and the front and back vents cracked, the boys and I were very cozy in our three-season sleeping bags.
